Partners of TWDA
TWDA is one of the 7 partners that make up the Central Archdiocesan Province Caritas Association (CAPCA). CAPCA is a development arm of the Central Archdiocesan Province and comprises a consortium of seven partner organizations also referred to as agencies. The CAPCA partners are; Caritas Kampala, Caritas MADDO, Caritas Kiyinda-Mityana, Caritas Kasanaensis, Caritas Lugazi, CIDI Rakai and Tusuubira Women’s Group. Currently, CAPCA operates in 9 districts of central Uganda. CAPCA has a board of trustees, Board of Directors and a Liaison office that carries out program management with special focus on coordination, quality assurance and supervision of implementation across the seven agencies.
CAPCA’s core mandateis to promote integral social and economic development of all people without anydiscrimination based on religion, politics, gender or race.To-date CAPCA has implemented five integrated agricultural development projects, including the current CAPCA lV project that is implemented under the Uganda Governance & Poverty Alleviation Program (UGOPAP), phase III.
The five development projects have been and continue to be supported Caritas Denmark. Some of the key interventions CAPCA promotes include; Sustainable agriculture, building organization capacity of community and farmers’ organizations, farming as a business, collective marketing, Environment Conservation, basic health and advocacy. In addition CAPCA is also piloting a project to attract the youth to join agricultural activities. The youth pilot interventions are so far being implemented in Bukomansimbi district by Caritas MADDO, in Mpigi & Butambala districts by Caritas Kampala and in Rakai district by CIDI Rakai.
